Thermo-auricular therapy

Thermo-auricular therapy Is the use of Ear Candles to relieve ear, sinus, nose, throat and head problems as well as stimulate the lymph system and the metabolism of the body.

Although there is evidence that many ancient civilisations used ear candle treatments, it was mainly through the Hopi Indians of North Arizona that this treatment became more widely known. Hopi means "peaceful people" and for many centuries the Hopi lived in harmony with nature and Mother Earth. The candles were traditionally used by Shaman healers and by the Indians in healing rituals and ceremonies, to cleanse and harmonise energy fields and to drive out negative energies as well as a physical clearance therapy for problems relating to the ear, nose and throat.

The candles are hollow tubes made from organic linen impregnated with beeswax, honey, St John's Wort and medicinal herbs such as sage and chamomile. They have a filter at the bottom which prevents any liquid wax or candle residue from entering the ear. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing many impurities to the surface. They also equalise the pressure in the head and ears and the healing vapour can protect and soothe irritation, stimulate the lymph glands and so the immune system.

Thermo-auricular therapy should be considered for:

NB Hopi ear candles will not be used if there is a perforated ear drum or infection in the ear.
